Pain is Pain is Pain...

We don't hold the monopoly on pain even if some days it might feel that way.

I know all of you have experienced that moment when you've expressed a pain or feeling and someone says oh man I totally know how you feel, one time blah blah blah.  And you feel like No, No man you don't know how I feel and the more -aw mans, I had that happen to me once- stories, the more likely you are to snap and throat punch said person.

I get it I totally do, but the truth is pain is painful to everyone regardless of how often you feel it, and feeling like you have more right to it than others just makes you insensitive. People like to share their pain, it's sick and twisted but true. We all feel a little better when we share our pain.

I know it's hard to be sympathetic to someone's flu or once in a while headache or the occasional bruise ect... When we face pain on a daily basis. It's hard not to become bitter and feel as if no one could ever understand our pain. But try not to forget, of all people, we understand the toll of pain and sickness-and should, in fact, be the most sympathetic.

So the next time someone complains about how sick they feel, or how bad their head hurts, or how bad their feet/back hurt or how tired they are. Try to remember their pain is real and hurting them and they deserve the same kind sympathies we hope to receive. Don't roll your eyes and sigh while mentally tallying your own pain, accept that their pain is new to them and troublesome and has nothing at all to do with you.

Pain sucks

sickness sucks

don't become someone who believes your pain is the only pain that matters, no pain is too small to be properly acknowledged. Besides if we start dismissing others pain as not adding up to ours how can we possibly ask people to have any compassion for us?
