Pretty interesting meeting this month and I want to personally thank Logan and Billy for coming out to speak with us about alternative treatments options with CBD and Cannabis.
Logan and Billy are with the CBD/cannabis advocacy here in New Mexico, they also volunteer time at a local CBD shop; Natural CBD NM located at 122 Bryn Mawr SE. suite 2 ABQ, nm 87106 here is the card for that shop:
They talked a bit about treatment of chronic pain with CBD products and cannabis. Both of them have personally found significant relief with these products and would recommend them. Logan suffers from fibromyalgia and Billy suffers from a spinal injury. Logan mentioned that he finds the sativa blends help with his fibro-fog and energy and Billy uses a salve for his back when he can't sleep because of the pain.
This shop offers CBD infused products and because they are CBD products and not THC products they are completely legal and available to anyone. Here is a direct quote from their site:
"CBD (cannabidiol) offers the full spectrum of health benefits found in medical cannabis but without the side effects of THC. In clinical settings CBD has been shown to help treat cancer, relieve convulsions, inflammation, anxiety, nausea, stress, lower blood pressure, headaches and many more health concerns. Some reports suggest that high concentrations of CBD can actually enhance the effects of THC. While we cannot make claims as to the effects of CBD, Cannabidiol oil, or hemp CBD oil, we are advocates and recommend searching independently for the benefits of CBD. Please note that all of our products do not contain THC and will not make anyone high. All of our products are 100% legal in the USA."
Both of them advocate the usage of both THC and CBD for maximum relief of symptoms and will tell you that you have to do some experimenting to find the right dosages and strains most beneficial.
For more information on the benefits of marijuana and CBD use visit the national advocacy for marijuana law at www.norml.org
These products are great for those who wish to take more control over their own treatment protocols and they come in many forms like tinctures, salves, and edibles to name a few. They recommend starting low and trying combinations for different symptoms. You can visit the store or send them an email if you'd like some more guidance in that area. if you decide you would like to try THC products as well you will have to get your medical marijuana card. (I posted contact info for a prescriber in the previous minutes if you like to look at those).
Because I am not sure of the complications that could potentially arise regarding the use of CBD products and drug testing/pain contracts I would recommend talking to your doctor before taking these products. What I have learned from my research is that most drug testing actually tests specifically for THC antibodies and CBD would not show up on that test, however because CBD products can contain up to .03 % of THC and still be legal there is a remote possibility that heavy usage of CBD products would produce a positive test. Please discuss this with your primary care.
Some of you asked how LDN might affect marijuana usage, the clinical research suggests that in small doses naltrexone reduces the affects of marijuana and in large doses naltrexone (for withdrawal over 50mg) increases the affect of marijuana however, there is still very little information on this presently.
For those of you still looking for LDN information I found these helpful links, there is a lot of information on dosage regulation of LDN and how long you should try this before giving up.

Here is the atlas orthogonal information:
I also found this really interest blog for a woman who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome and Lyme disease:
http://wolfdreams.wordpress.com
there is a lot of useful information there and if you are interested in learning more about Lyme disease here is a website dedicated to educating people on Lyme:

I didn't get around to the topic I planned this month and we are planning on having another guest speaker next month so I may write another post on my topic and send out another email or just present it another time. Hopefully you all found this meeting helpful and I look forward to seeing you next month!
If anyone has a specific question or topic they would like discussed please send me an email and I'll research it or let you talk about it!!
